Lens Options
There are some lens options that you can look into to get the most out of the sunglasses you can buy by the bulk:
- Tinted lenses. These helps filter brightness for increased comfort. However, be sure that your designed wholesale sunglasses are equipped with UV protection. Tinted lenses that don't protect from UV rays are actually more harmful since it results in the dilation of the eyes so that more damaging UV rays can penetrate the eye.
- Polarized lenses. These are highly effective in getting rid of glare coming from light reflected on horizontal surfaces. These provide superior clarity in bright light conditions where there are plenty of horizontal surfaces such as the flat pavement when driving, the flat water when fishing or sailing or the snow when skiing or snowboarding.
- Gradient tint. This provides clarity in some parts of the lens and maximum UV protection and tint in others. A single gradient tint starts fully dark at the top and gradually becomes lighter to almost clear at the bottom. For double gradients, it starts dark at the top, clear at the middle and then dark at the bottom so as to filter light not just from above but also glare coming from below.
- Photochromic lenses. If you want to don your sunglasses wherever you go (be it indoors or outdoors), photochromic lenses is an excellent choice. Photochromic lenses react to the presence of light – darkening when the light is bright and getting clear in low light conditions.
- Mirror coating. Lens with mirror coatings deflect the light away from the sunglasses and from its wearer. It is coated with a silvery, metallic material that looks like a mirror. You can choose this in lieu of a polarized lens, especially when the mirror coating also has a tint. Mirror coated lenses are great for wearing under very bright lights, especially when you are indulging in an outdoor sport such as skiing or hiking.
- Anti-reflective coated lenses. These are usually applied to the back side of the lenses. These minimize reflected light not just on the lens but in the lens itself. Light can hit the back side of the lens and the resulting reflection can affect vision. With AR-coated lenses, these reflections are effectively reduced.
Types of Lenses
Aside from the coating, you should also consider the material used for the lenses:
- Composite polycarbonate lenses. These are light, durable and scratch resistant. These can also provide UV protection for the eyes. Polycarbonate lenses are ideal for one with an active lifestyle.
- Glass lenses. These are heavier and prone to scratching and breaking. However, these provide superior clarity. This is ideal for low-impact sports such as golf.
