As you read and digest our predictions for 2023, we want to remind you of the most important rule of inventory management: order the wholesale sunglasses you expect to need well in advance of needing them. For example, you should already be thinking about ordering your spring inventory.
With that out of the way, here are our 2023 predictions based on what we see as the latest trends in sunglasses.
Thick Frames
A few years ago, oversized frames were the hottest trend. Bigger will be better again in 2023, but in a very different way. It will not be about diameter this year. It will be the thickness of the frames. Buyers will be after thick frames whether they want men's, women's, or children's sunglasses.

Semi-Translucent Lenses
Another hot trend we've been noticing is a greater demand for semi-translucent lenses. Rather than darker lenses that make the eyes almost invisible, customers are opting for lighter lenses that still show some facial definition. Smokey grays and ambers get the job done for people who prefer to be more reserved.

Rectangular Frames
To a lesser extent, we believe that current trends are turning toward a heavy emphasis on rectangular frames. And by the way, we are being literal here. Rectangles seem to be in. They can have hard or rounded corners, as long as the rectangular shape is evident.
We aren't quite clear as to why rectangles seem to be so trendy. But we have seen enough manufacturers and distributors pushing rectangular frames that we suspect customers are going to want them. Don't get rid of your wayfarers, though. They are always in style.
Bright Colors for the Kids
Specifically, where wholesale kids’ sunglasses are concerned, bright colors will continue to rule the day. Expect everything from bright yellow to pink to red and blue. The more color, the better. You should also note that the color trend pertains to both frames and lenses.

As for our predictions for 2023, time will ultimately tell of our accuracy. We are fairly confident based on the trends we have seen over the last couple of months. If we are right, thick frames and semi-translucent lenses will be the biggest sellers this year.
