In a recent article published by the What to Expect website, contributor Jenn Sinrich cited advice given to her by medical professionals she interviewed for the piece. One of the professionals she interviewed made it clear that a baby's developing skin and eyes are more susceptible to UV damage compared to older kids and adults.
That makes sense. Young children are more vulnerable to all sorts of environmental conditions while their bodies are still developing. Knowing that, putting a pair of sunglasses on an infant or toddler makes just as much sense as insisting that your older children wear their shades whenever they leave the house.
More Parents Want to Utilize Them
The second of our two reasons is a direct result of the first. Here it is – more parents want to utilize sunglasses as a result of advice offered by a pediatrician. Simply put, parents are listening to doctor recommendations. If the family doctor says sunglasses for the children, mom and dad are going to heed that recommendation.
Parents naturally want to do what is best for their children. They naturally want to protect the kids from any unnecessary harm. Based on what we know about sunglasses and UV protection, investing in shades for everyone in the family – including the little ones – seems like the right thing to do.
As a retailer, offering adult sunglasses without equivalent products for the kids is to limit your own sales. Rest assured that parents who cannot buy kid's sunglasses from you have every reason not to buy their own sunglasses from you either. It is just common sense.
